The Practice Educator Consultant Post was introduced in 2017 by the Yorkshire Urban and Rural Teaching Partnership to further enhance the support and drive for excellence in practice. The post is held within and will focus on learning and organisational development. 

The Practice Educator Consultant will work to embed good practice across both Children’s and Adult Social Care and ensure opportunities for learning and development are integrated into day to day work of both services. We’ll expect you to be proactive in your approach to identifying  developing Practice Educator’s and be involved in the development of policies and procedures and ensuring these are met to a high standard. 

You will be familiar with the assessment and intervention methods that Students will use in their practice settings, act as a champion for practice education, promote best practice, support other Practice Educators throughout the agency, contribute to teaching on the Practice Educator programmes, facilitate practice learning sessions for students and increase the Teaching Partnership’s capacity to deliver statutory placements. As such, the Practice Educator Consultant role is key to implementing the Teaching Partnership’s vision to build a workforce of well trained, competent and confident Social Workers who can meet the challenges of practice. 

As an experienced Social Work practitioner with a strong record of exemplary practice education, you understand what good social work looks like and are confident to challenge where you find areas that could be improved and promote examples of great social work. You will need to demonstrate the ways in which you have supported the implementation of learning into practice as well as excellent project working skills.

Your passion for the best possible outcomes for children and adults is evident and you lead by example striving for and promoting excellence in practice and encouraging others to do the same. Committed to your own and others professional development you encourage others to learn and actively support their CPD. 

You will need to be a registered Social Worker with significant experience in Children’s or Adult Social Work and practice education, have thorough and up to date understanding of legislation, guidance

and developments in social work practice. You will also hold  a current Practice Educator Award Stage 1 and Stage 2.
