Infection Prevention and Control Nurse/Practitioner
The Kirklees and Wakefield Community Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Team are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and highly motivated Registered Nurse/Practitioner with a strong interest in Infection Prevention & Control to join our team. We require the candidate to have significant clinical practice with experience working in the community.
This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to take their interest in IPC to the next level and become a community sector IPC professional. Limiting the transmission of COVID-19 remains a top priority. Undertaking contact tracing and providing advice for cases and contacts as required, focusing on complex cases and challenging issues. This will include in depth analysis of tracing data including identification, investigation and response to incidents, clusters and outbreaks. This position requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Due to the homeworking and online nature of this role, you must be proficient in the use of Microsoft products, electronic systems and databases.
The role is fundamentally based in the community sector working with care homes, general practices, social care services and clinical commissioning groups. A principle aim of the IPC Team is to use a multi-disciplinary approach across the health and social care economy to drive local improvement and reduce Health Care Associated Infections (HCAIs) by improving patient safety. This job will be challenging but extremely rewarding and we will offer training and support to enable you to flourish.
You will support the development of a co-ordinated approach to the prevention and control of HCAIs within the Wakefield and Kirklees areas. You will be responsible for leading the agenda in an identified locality; undertaking IPC audits; deliver IPC training, undertake surveillance of healthcare associated infections, input on data collection systems and other duties as directed by the Lead IPCN and Senior IPCNs.
You will need to be a team player with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and have the ability to work under pressure. The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and have a flexible approach to work, acting as a role model across the Health and Social care economy.
Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time. It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence and own a car.
