We are on an ambitious journey and looking for a passionate and committed Team Manager to work within the newly formed Youth Engagement Service.  

Kirklees is developing a Youth Practice Model identified as the Youth Engagement Service. The service aims to provide support to all Young People identified at Risk of all forms of Exploitation, Gang affiliation and Criminal influences. 

The Youth Engagement Service is a multi-disciplinary team incorporating the skills and experience of several services within Kirklees Council and working together with partners to provide the broadest possible inventory of support for the Young people of Kirklees. 

As the Team Manager, you will be at the forefront managing the planning of frontline intervention and engagement work delivered by your team. 

The role will include monitoring of information, identification of trends and real time interpretations that will contribute to plans aimed at mitigating risk. 

As a supervisor of the Youth Engagement Service you will hold an influential position and hold responsibility for decision making, development of plans and the innovation of effective solutions. 

The role will require an oversight of progress for young People identified at risk of exploitation working in collaboration with other services and partners. 

The Youth Engagement Service is integral to how Kirklees develops and delivers support for Young people at risk of exploitation.

As a manager you will provide supervision and opportunities for reflection and analysis, as well as being responsible for the allocation of casework and actively managing caseloads so that our practitioners are able to do the quality child centred work that they want to.

Within Family Support and Child Protection we want to make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people. You will be part of a new and exciting service which is aims to ensure young people feel safe and are safe, young people are consulted about their concerns, are listened to and responded to with appropriate actions. We are looking for an experienced individual with 

  • Ability to manage multi-agency teams and work collaboratively with partners.
  • Specialist knowledge of Contextual Safeguarding.
  • Ability to use management systems and procedures. And develop improvements in working practice.
  • Experience and understanding of delivering services to those at risk of Child Exploitation, Gang affiliation and Criminal influences.
  • You must hold a recognised Social Work Qualification and be registered with the HCPC.

You will have a strong understanding of what best practice looks like and be passionate about inspiring and improving children’s lives. Working restoratively which involves innovation and locality working with high quality relationships at the heart of our approach.   A creative and flexible approach to work and the drive and motivation to improve our services are key.  You will report to the Service Manager and work within a multi-disciplinary and integrated team.
