The Occupational Health Nurse is a key role in the Employee Health Care Team and you will be responsible for providing an integrated healthcare service to Kirklees Council and a number of external organisations. You will work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a range of high-quality occupational health services which meet the operational needs of service areas.

The range of duties you be will undertaking is broad and will include carrying out health screening and health surveillance, delivering vaccination programmes and providing health advice/education to a large and diverse employee population. You work on specific projects as part of the wider Employee Healthcare (EHC) and People Services Team. You will have a good understanding of the needs of the Council as whole as well as individual services.

You will be expected to provide innovative solutions, analyse risks and identify opportunities. Using information, you will provide analysis and insight to others to make informed decisions.

Requirements for this role include:

  • Qualified Nurse with current NMC
  • Occupational Health qualified to diploma/degree level or willing to work
  • Relevant experience working in an Occupational Health Practitioner
  • Knowledge of immunization programmes and up to date vaccination
  • Good experience of managing difficult situations, using clear judgement to advise
  • Good report writing skills and ability to deal with complex cases
  • Delivering health surveillance and/or supporting with escalations from the OH Technicians
  • HAVS qualification desirable but not essential as can offer training.
  • Experience of encountering complex problems and resolving them
  • Experience of writing complex information in formats suitable for a variety of

IT skills and creativity to support and develop the EHC IT systems, from a user viewpoint
