This job is internally restricted. To apply for this job you must be an employee of the Council/KNH for the duration of the recruitment process – up to and including the start date. You must also be a substantive employee (or an employee with 12 months continuous service or more) of the Council or an Apprentice. Please note that if you work for an Academy you are not an employee of the Council. 

*The substantive role is a Grade 10 and the Job Description attached details the role and responsibilities of this grade. However, a development opportunity may be available to a candidate who meets all other criteria in the person specification with the exception of the qualifications. A candidate in this instance would be paid a developmental grade of Grade 9 £27,741 - £30,451.

The Role 

As a proactive Surveyor you will provide technical advice on energy efficiency matters in support of the Capital programme. You will play a pivotal role in the identifying and rolling out of energy measures to ensure our stock is thermally efficient and fuel poverty is eradicated.

This is an exciting opportunity to engage with our tenants, colleagues and community groups to raise awareness of energy efficiency across the district. You will assist the Technical Officer to ensure Energy Performance Certificates (EPC’s) are carried out to meet the legislative requirements and to inform our planned works programme.

As part of the KNH response to the Kirklees Council announcement regarding a Climate Emergency crisis and the ambitious targets set, you will assist in the preparation of bids for external funding and oversee all subsequent grant claims to maximise income to support the affordable warmth strategy and response to minimise fuel poverty across the Kirklees District. 

You should hold or will be required to work towards the City and Guilds 6281 Energy Awareness and be a qualified domestic energy assessor or be willing to work towards this. You should have experience of report/bid writing, together with a flexible approach, providing technical input on various work streams across KNH to ensure the organisation meets it’s compliance responsibilities and Asset programme deliverables.
