The role will be predominantly home-based with some travel to Kirklees, regional and national meetings required as part of the role.

Building on some of the fantastic work delivered during the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve recently developed an ambitious Data and Insight Strategy. To support and enable delivery of our Strategy, we’re in the process of building a new Data and Insight Function within the Council.

About the role

This role is one of several exciting new roles we’ve created to provide leadership and drive improvements in our use of data and insights. You will act as the Council’s technical lead for data analytics, generating high value insights using statistical and analytical methodologies and techniques.

Working with staff at all levels across all services, you will promote the use of data analytics to support decision making and generate in-depth insights that help solve business problems. You will contribute to developing a culture of learning and curiosity across the Council.

You will effectively manage and prioritise demand for data analytics across the Council and oversee the delivery of projects through the leadership and management of a Data Analytics Team. You will work collaboratively with other specialist teams across the Data and Insight Service and the wider organisation.

You will play a significant part in us achieving our ambitions for data and insight use and the work you do will directly contribute to improving health, social and economic outcomes across Kirklees.

About you

We are looking for someone who shares our energy and ambition for how data can help us to understand needs, experiences and perceptions and generate actionable insights to improve public services and make a tangible difference to outcomes for people and places.

You will have proven experience of leading and nurturing technical teams and be confident in building trusted relationships with colleagues at all levels. You will be committed to continuous improvement and have a desire to succeed – individually and as part of a team.

You will have the knowledge, skills, experience and expertise to lead and manage a broad range of data analytics projects and be confident in your ability to develop, implement and embed best practice standards, tools and approaches, ensuring quality is central to everything we do.

If you are looking for a role that is challenging and hugely rewarding, and you have the skills and ambition we are looking for, we would love to hear from you.
