KIRKLEES COUNCIL ARE ADVERTISING THIS ROLE ON BEHALF OF WEST YORKSHIRE FIRE & RESCUE SERVICE

Fancy helping our firefighters and fire staff colleagues to help keep West Yorkshire safe? Are you who we need to continue our journey to be the best public sector employer around? If you are passionate about helping people be even better at their jobs through learning – then this is the job for you!

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent, full time Learning & Development Advisor.

Working in a small professional team you will help support the Learning and Development Manager in delivering aspects of our strategy. A skilled learning and development professional, you will provide a professional, proactive, and effective service across West Yorkshire.

This role is at the forefront of enabling our firefighters to achieve competence by supporting them and their managers with NVQs and promotion/professional development workbooks. You will also play a key role in advising colleagues and managers and on a range of L&D activities; this includes supporting professional development, apprenticeships, working with external and internal providers to ensure the learning delivered is top notch.

You will be an all-round learning and development advisor, with experience of the whole learning cycle. You will have experience of accredited learning, i.e. NVQs. You will be fantastic at using MS Office products (training will be provided) and be able to use online systems and processes such as databases. You will be incredibly organised, yet creative. You will understand how important the planning, logistics, coordination, and evaluation are in effective learning programmes and will have demonstrable experience.

You will either hold an appropriate Level 3 qualification in coaching & mentoring Level 3 or have extensive experience. We would love it if you also have a Level 3 Learning and Development professional qualification such as the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector or trainers’ certificate; if you don’t have this, you’ll need to demonstrate your experience. We are keen on developing you too, so, if you don’t have a Quality Assurance Qualification, we’ll help you to achieve it – all we ask is that you do so within six months.
