Kirklees council has a strong commitment to continuing to provide excellent services to support its diverse community and places high value on the educational psychology team’s involvement in this. Our  EPS has a free core offer for all schools as well as providing some support to schools as part of a traded offer. Our Council leaders value the skills and expertise of educational psychologists and the broad role that they have in influencing both preventative and early intervention work. As such, we guarantee a balance of statutory and non-statutory work for all team members.

We are looking to recruit creative and dynamic educational psychologists to support us with both our core offer for schools and a range of exciting project work which we are commissioned to undertake and includes:

  • Rolling out Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) training across all MHST schools
  • Developing and embedding  Emotion Coaching practice across schools
  • Building on the work undertaken with schools as part of the Alex Timpson Attachment Aware, Trauma-Informed and Resilience-Led research programme
  • Leading on training to education settings for children in care and working closely with our specialist teachers and inclusion workers

Our remit within these initiatives focuses on whole school development work which aims to build long term capacity within our schools through a range of training, interventions and staff supervision. This work has gained local and national recognition. Follow the links at the end of the document to find out more.

We offer a competitive salary to EPs who:

  • thrive on opportunities for development and growth
  • want to ensure a balance of statutory and other work
  • relish the opportunity to have a key role within specialist areas
  • see the value of consultation and utilise a dynamic approach to assessment
  • want to work within a large, friendly and supportive team with access to excellent administrative support and IT facilities
  • see the value in working collaboratively with our Assistant EPs, Trainee EPs and Inclusion Workers in relation to supporting vulnerable children and young people

For our employees we provide:
