Advanced Safeguarding Social Worker
As an Advanced Safeguarding Social Worker you will promote practice standards, providing leadership and professional guidance to colleagues. Using a role model approach you will support the professional development of Social Workers and Manager’s by providing advice, support, challenge, coaching and mentoring.
The post primarily is to work within the Front Door Service of the Safeguarding function, where you will have the responsibility to screen and oversee the Safeguarding Concerns at Gateway to Care and to assist both Gateway to Care staff and Social Workers with identifying risk and defensible decision-making.
You will be responsible for overseeing the Safeguarding Section 42 duties for the Community Hubs and appropriate Mental Health teams and provide line management to and supervision of the Social Workers within the integrated team. You will have responsibility for the quality of practice and performance of the team, this will involve providing assurances to your team manager using data integrity information of performance, you will be involved in projects where required to support service developments and to improve the quality of the Safeguarding procedure along with the Current Safeguarding Policy & Procedures.
You will support the “Challenge” function of safeguarding via liaison with partner agencies as well as involvement with council colleagues. The role will also support the “Prevent” function by coaching and supporting external and internal partners, linking with Early Intervention and Prevention services.
You will need experience of supporting workers (including performance based supervision/ and or coaching) and will have a high standard of report writing to provide clear analysis, within set timescales.
You must hold a SWE recognised Social Work Qualification and be registered with the SWE - or a relevant qualification within another professional discipline and with significant safeguarding experience.
A full induction will be provided during which the successful candidates will receive support from a very committed, friendly, flexible, and welcoming team.
Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time. It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence and it is expected that you will either use a council vehicle or your own car. (Exceptions may be made for disabled applicants)
