Kirklees Council owns an extensive non-operational land and property portfolio and recognises that through efficient and effective management this valuable resource can support the Council’s priorities. To support delivery of these required outcomes, a new business support officer role has been created to provide accurate record keeping, timely customer service responses and support through a transformation process for the wider land Team.

As part of your role you will support the administration of legal agreements and billing for garage sites, gardens, grazing land and ground leases, and most importantly management of any health and safety risks within the non-commercial portfolio.

You will monitor incoming enquiries and tasks, and direct them to the relevant officers on an assessed priority basis, so will need to be able to work well under your own initiative, with sound decision-making skills. This is a high profile area of work attracting attention from local councillors and members of the public and therefore you will have need to have very strong customer service skills for managing enquiries and complaints appropriately.

You will be required to provide information to a variety of internal and external customers and this must be timely, accurate and consistent. You will also be required to support with billing and finance enquiries and ensure that record keeping on a variety of databases is highly accurate and within timescales.

This post will sit within a large Business Support Team that supports the Corporate Facilities Management and Compliance Functions for the Council, therefore there will be some shared tasks across the teams that will be expected from this role plus sickness/annual leave cover as and when required. You will need to have a strong background in administration and a passion for transformation to support the journey to a more modern and effective service. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly motivated and fast paced team, in a period of change and modernisation.
