An exciting opportunity has opened up for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Arboricultural Team Manager to help us develop and manage the council’s trees and green infrastructure, supporting the Council’s ambitious plans to enhance its natural environment. 

The Kirklees council district covers approximately 150 square miles and is a diverse part of the West Yorkshire region, with a rich and varied natural environment, spread across urban, suburban and rural areas, through to the Pennine foothills.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced colleague, with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of arboricultural management across a range of situations and communities. 

Reporting to the Woodland Development Manager, you will be based within the Council’s Environment and Climate Change, Parks and Green Spaces service and be part of a focused team delivering and enhancing services for the communities that the Council serves. 

As Arboricultural Team Manager you will be responsible for providing advice to internal parties as well as effective management and supervision of the Council’s operational arboricultural service, including management of the Council’s tree stock, along with a team of tree inspectors and a team of operational arborists.

You will be working closely with others, engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. You will need to ensure effective communication to proactively manage the Council’s tree stock. Ensuring the Council is in a defendable position in terms of national legislation and case law.
