An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Executive Assistant & Team Leader based at our Headquarters in Birkenshaw.

We are one of the country’s leading fire and rescue services, rated as good by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate.

The overall purpose of the role is to provide a comprehensive executive support service to the Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive and the Management Board.

As Personal Assistant to the Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive and the Deputy Chief Fire Officer you will be required to proactively manage their diary to ensure key deadlines are met and responsibilities are fulfilled efficiently. You will receive and screen all incoming communications and deal with outgoing communications, including the drafting of responses, where appropriate.

You will also liaise with external bodies including other fire and rescue services and emergency services, the Local Government Association, the National Fire Chiefs Council, political figures, public, media, and other high profile parties, by a variety of communication methods.

To provide a support service to the Management Board you will maintain a detailed understanding of national, regional and local initiatives and developments that impact on the WYFRS Corporate Plan and strategic priorities. You will also be required to undertake research, collate internal and external data, prepare reports for the Board as required and support the management and oversight of key deliverables and follow up where required.

Providing leadership to the Board support team, you will ensure all performance objectives are achieved and resources are appropriately deployed and you will need to understand all secretarial processes to oversee compliance and to ensure continuous improvement. You will also undertake full line management responsibilities for two other PAs.

Having previous experience of working as an Executive Assistant at Director level together with a proactive approach in supporting senior leadership; logical thinking; excellent problem solving and written and verbal communication skills are essential for this demanding role.
