This is a great opportunity for someone to join our Design Technology Department here at The Mirfield Free Grammar working as a DT Technician. The successful candidate will provide help and support to both students and staff within the classroom/work room.

The main part of the DT Technician’s role will be to set up the classroom prior to lesson checking that all materials and apparatus required are set and ready for demonstrations and for practical work.  In addition, you will be required to ensure that all work areas are clean and safe, and that all equipment is cleared away safely. On some occasions you may be required to work alongside our students during lesson time, providing them with assistance and advice to help them achieve the practical needs of the lesson.

This is a demanding role within a fast-paced environment. You must be highly organised with the ability to juggle and prioritise several tasks independently. You must enjoy working as part of a team and have the patience and attention to detail necessary to provide effective support to both colleagues and students. Excellent communication skills are essential.

The successful candidate must be enthusiastic about the contribution that Design Technology plays within the school curriculum and must be driven by the desire to add value and deliver an outstanding contribution within the school.

In return you will work with a progressive and forward thinking Multi Academy Trust where there are opportunities for development and career progression. As a Trust we offer many benefits including a generous holiday entitlement and contributory pension through the West Yorkshire Pension Fund.  Great Heights Academy Trust is a growing multi-academy trust with eight schools in the West Yorkshire area with plans to further expand. In addition, we are home to a SCITT, Research School and an English Hub.
