Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of The Pivot Academy

At Pivot we believe children deserve better. In our academies we teach and support children and young people from Key Stages 1 – 4 who have been excluded from school, for whom mainstream education is simply not working, or those with an EHCP who require a specialist placement. Every day our teams do incredible work, making a huge difference to some of the most complex and challenging children, many of whom come to us with traumatic backgrounds.

The Pivot Outreach Programme (POP) is a growing provision which aims to re-engage learners with social, emotional and mental health needs who may have been out of education for some time. Within POP, learners are provided with both academic and pastoral activities, delivered off site, at pupil’s homes and at times within the POP hub.

Due to the success of the provision, we are growing rapidly and currently seeking Tutors to join the team, teaching learners in Key Stages 3 and 4. As a Tutor, you will plan, prepare and deliver learning activities for learners in order to enable them to make progress according to their learning pathways.

Experience of teaching learners with social, emotional and mental health needs or ASC is essential to this role, as is the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with young people, staff, parents/carers and the community. We are seeking qualified teachers for the roles, however, applications from unqualified teachers with relevant experience are also welcome. Ideally, candidates will have experience in teaching primary.

The role will involve regular travel within Kirklees, therefore, the ability to drive with access to a car is essential.

Working at Pivot will give you a real chance to change our student’s lives and we truly believe you will find working here a rewarding experience. This role is a great opportunity for someone who wishes to make a difference to learners who are not accessing education full-time.

Don’t miss this opportunity, apply now by completing an application form and returning to the HR team at recruitment@pivot-group.co.uk.

Closing Date:    7 April 2024

We are committed to safeguarding our young people and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure Barring Service check and appropriate referencing.

During the shortlisting process, Pivot will carry out an online search on shortlisted candidates as part of its due diligence.
