A retention payment of £3000 per year applies to this job and is split into two payments, in December and June. This is reviewed annually. You become eligible for the payment after 6 months employment and successful completion of your probationary period.

Kirklees Councils Economy and Infrastructure Directorate have capacity for up to 3 qualified Surveyors to join the Disposals and Acquisitions Asset team under the Head of Corporate Landlord to actively assist not only in the teams' role in the strategic leadership and management of the council’s land and property assets including management of the Councils commercial estate, and  general portfolio management, but also provide advice and property related guidance  in the project management and development of assets contributing to the Councils corporate regeneration projects and initiatives including major highway improvement schemes, housing development projects in accordance with corporate partners, Town Centre regeneration and investment acquisitions and  compulsory purchase processes.

As a key officer in the team, you will be a fully qualified Chartered Surveyor with a strong background in property and capable of providing leadership, direction, high technical ability and knowledge and delivery on a full range of general practice surveying skills to include landlord and tenant portfolio management including rent reviews, lease renewals and lettings. You will be required to produce valuations across the portfolio. You will have experience of disposal and acquisition processes and preparation and an understanding of all land and property related estate management functions.  

You will 

  • Have a property related qualification and professional membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
  • You will be able to demonstrate significant post qualification experience to satisfy the demands of the post
  • Have a proven track record of professional delivery
  • Experience in planning, housing, highways, land assembly and compulsory purchase procedures and legislation would be favourable.

Ideally you will have some previous Local Authority experience (but not essential to the right candidate) and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of asset and estate management.

You will have the experience and ability to work on your own initiative possessing excellent communication skills and customer focus.
