You will be entitled to a retention payment of £1500 per year which will be spilt into two payments, in December and June. You become eligible for the payment after 6 months employment and successful completion of your probationary period.

The Team

The Mental Health Social Care Hub works across the whole of Kirklees providing assessment and support for people with diagnosed mental health needs who also meet the eligibility criteria for social care needs as defined under the Care Act 2014. 

You will be joining a newly-formed team beginning its journey and will help shape the direction we move in. We are a small and friendly team who have a number of years of experience both within mental health and adult social care.

The Role

As an experienced social worker/AMHP you will be expected to manage complex cases and work autonomously. You will receive regular supervision and workload management to assist in your decision-making, and ensure your continued professional development.

You will be required to complete holistic assessments and reviews of a person’s needs focused on their strengths, and this will involve seeking and encouraging the contribution of people, their carers and relatives, as well as others involved in their care.  You will engage in multi-agency working with a range of health and social care professionals to achieve the best outcomes for people including the integrated mental health teams. Your assessments will allow you to commission support to ensure people are enabled to meet their agreed outcomes.

You will promote a social perspective and protect the service user’s rights. You will be required to positively manage risk, promote independence and wellbeing whilst protecting service users and others from harm. You will have experience of, and be skilled in, managing safeguarding enquiries. 

To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the following skills, abilities and experience on your application form:

  • A Social Work England recognised professional Social Work Qualification and have evidence that you are registered with the SWE.
  • Working with people with mental ill health and have a good understanding and practical application of key legislation including the Care Act, Mental Health Act, Human Rights Act, Mental Capacity Act, and associated Codes of Practice
  • A sound understanding of adult social care pathways
  • The ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Evidence of effective partnership working with other agencies
  • You will additionally be required to complete duties under the Mental Health Act as an AMHP and Social Supervisor if already qualified or be willing to undertake the training.
  • Possession of a full and valid driving licence (exceptions can be made for disabled applicants). Travel is an essential part of this job and it is expected that you will use your own car for which you will be reimbursed mileage.
