Delivering complex whole system-wide changes requires us to be whole system leaders and collaborate much more with our partners, and consider new ways of working to meet the needs of citizens.

The Project Officer will play a key role within the Transformation Team working alongside Project Managers in the day to day implementation of projects and programmes within the Transformation Portfolio and supporting the Project Management Office (PMO). To be successful in this role you will need the technical knowledge, behaviours, and experience to enable transformational change. If successful, you will join an ambitious, creative, and highly collaborative team which continually strives for excellence as part of a modern, flexible, and emotionally intelligent workforce.

You will need high emotional intelligence and excellent relationship building skills as this role will include working with colleagues across the council and partnership who are looking to transform what they do and how they do it. You will also work in a highly collaborative way with colleagues from other key enabling functions. You will have training, support and line management reporting to a Transformation Project Manager.

Requirements for this job include:

  • Supporting the day to day development and delivery of one or more projects within the Transformation Portfolio
  • Responsibility for ensuring the work is planned in a way to effectively achieve the required results with support from the Project Manager
  • Supporting collaboration of change projects between the Transformation Team and other service areas and enablers
  • Ensuring lines of communications with all stakeholders are in place and helping to effectively managing stakeholder relationships to support implementation activities
  • Keeping all information up to date to continually track the changing environment
  • Undertaking research and analysis into best practice from other local authorities, public sector organisations and private sector bodies and makes relevant contacts where appropriate
  • Develop and maintain appropriate Project Management Office Systems (financial and non-financial), project management and financial documents, contributing to project/ programme reporting and auditing
  • To work at all times with citizens outcomes at the forefront of decision making.
  • To be able to show initiative and work autonomously when required.
  • To show flexibility, adaptability and resilience when faced with quick and frequent change.
  • To learn and promote restorative practise across the council and work to these principles.
