Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority are seeking to appoint two Information Governance Officers in our Legal and Governance service area. You will support the Combined Authority in compliance with data protection and freedom of information legislation. Knowledge and experience in at least one of these areas is essential.

It is an exciting time to be joining the Combined Authority, following the announcement of a £1.8bn devolution deal that has been secured for West Yorkshire. Devolution will enable us to drive up living standards for local communities while tackling the climate emergency and help deliver our commitment to become a net zero carbon city region by 2038.

The Role

Reporting to the Information Governance Manager & Deputy Data Protection Officer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing corporate guidance on information governance, including Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
  • Responding to requests for information made under the Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information Act 2000, and related legislation.
  • Supporting large organisational projects.

About You

You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience:

  • Educated to Degree or equivalent relevant qualifications/ education/ experience.
  • Knowledge of Data Protection, FOI, EIR and information governance issues and related legislation.
  • Demonstrable experience of working methodically and thoroughly with good attention to detail.
  • Experience of working with discretion and handling confidential information sensitively.
