Scale SCP 10 - 14: £23,620 – £25,409 pro rata (Starting salary SCP 10, increasing to SCP 11 at the end of a satisfactory probationary period)

Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of Home-Start Kirklees.

Home-Start Kirklees is a family support charity, helping families with young children deal with whatever life throws at them. We help families with isolation, bereavement, mental health issues, financial insecurity and many more. Our local network of trained volunteers and paid expert staff help families with young children throughout their toughest times. Our vision is to be a society in which every parent has the support they need to give their children the best start in life.

We have one vacant post available for a part time Family Support Worker, who will work closely with our referred families and offer support and guidance around raising their children and their own parenting needs. The post holder work across Kirklees and support will be given under the guidance of Home-Start Co-ordinators. You will need to liaise closely with various statutory and voluntary organisations. The position will report to the Senior Co-ordinator and Senior Management Team.

Essential requirements include:

  • Experience of caring for young children
  • Experience of working with families and/or volunteers
  • Ability to work as part of a team with supervisory support
  • Understand confidentiality and professionalism in the workplace
  • Car driver/owner (expenses will be paid)
  • Experience of working with vulnerable groups and ensuring safeguarding practice is embedded and adhered to
