Social Care is at the heart of our communities, providing care and support for vulnerable people at various stages of their lives and for a variety of reasons. It is challenging and demanding work, yet ultimately rewarding as you can directly make a difference to the quality of a persons’ life and their day-to-day experiences.

For example:

  • Where there is no response from individuals to telephone calls (from carephones)
  • Non-injury Falls and accidents
  • Personal care needs
  • Reassurance calls
  • Problems with assistive technology

Your role may also include supporting individuals with their daily activities which can include getting up (you may be required to support with elements of moving and handling including hoists as part of the role), personal care (which can be of an intimate nature), showering/bathing, assisting with toileting, dressing and getting people ready for the day ahead / all meals and drinks / support to mobilise around their home / medication management / getting ready for bed etc
