The Governing Body of Flockton CE (C) First School wishes to appoint an enthusiastic individual with the skills and knowledge necessary to fulfil the role of a HLTA with the responsibility of Outdoor Educational Leader. In the first instance this is advertised as a fixed term position (01.01.21 to 31.12.21).

Flockton First School is an excellent place to work. It is a small rural school with 90 children ranging in age from 4 to 10 years old. We are a fantastic, warm and friendly team who are committed to developing a skills-based outdoor and forest school curriculum. The school has a fantastic outdoor space and garden area. Rooted within the community we are keen to educate our pupils in caring for our immediate environment and learning to live well together.

We are seeking a dynamic, friendly and talented Outdoor Educational Leader who will develop our curriculum in line with our vision, values and the Christian ethos of the school.

We are looking for someone who will:

 

  • Plan and deliver an exceptional and high-skilled forest school curriculum that supports the work of teachers under an agreed system of supervision.
  • Lead on developing a successful and sustainable whole-school outdoor provision.
  • Promote and in still a love of the outdoors in our pupils and teach them the importance of stewardship.
  • Work within the Christian foundations of the school and promote the schools vision and values.
  • Plan, co-ordinate, deliver and assess high-quality learning opportunities.
  • Educate pupils of the importance of healthy lifestyles and living well together.
  • Motivate and inspire children to develop confidence and try new things.

 

Principal Responsibilities

 

  • Work in collaboration with the teachers to supervise activities and the general management and control of pupils.
  • To be responsible for the safety and safeguarding of the pupils they teach.
  • To plan and deliver forest schools or outdoor learning programmes. To develop the outdoor areas of school grounds to enhance learning outside the classroom.
  • Plan prepare forest school or outdoor learning sessions which develop resilience, perseverance, problem solving, team work and communication work.
  • Ensure activities promote child led learning and contribute to the holistic development of all children.
  • To be responsible for setting up the activities and preparing the equipment and materials needed to ensure all learners enjoy and achieve.
  • To prepare and keep up to date relevant risk assessments. To make staff aware of risk assessments.
  • To advise and support the school in maintaining the forest school area, including any planting.
  • To maintain equipment, tools and materials.
  • To advise the school on the necessary purchase of any equipment needed.
