Internally restricted job. To apply for this job you must be an employee of the Council for the duration of the recruitment process – up to and including the start date. You must also be a substantive employee (or an employee with 12 months continuous service or more) of the Council or an Apprentice. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to join our Adults’ Transformation team, as a Project Manager. You will be working at the cutting edge of service design and systems implementation, bringing your experience and knowledge to help deliver our vision across our transformation programme. 

You will have a good track record of managing large and complex projects in the Council or elsewhere. You will be a pro-active and enthusiastic individual with excellent project management skills, displaying a flexible approach to provide support across the service, demonstrating an ability to work as part of a team, working at pace and capable of managing a diverse workload. We are looking for bright individuals, who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. 

We are facing unprecedented challenges, with reductions in funding and significant pressure on services from an increasing population. However, quality is at the heart of everything we do in Kirklees. We are committed to developing and improving our interventions so that we consistently deliver high quality services and help to improve outcomes for people. 

You will need to have a proactive approach to project management including project planning, time management, working to deadlines, research, providing written and verbal reports and consultation with stakeholders.

You will require:

  • Experience of supporting the implementation or transformation of change in the Council or another organisation
  • An understanding of good practice in project or programme management and practical experience of implementing it (a relevant qualification or training is beneficial, but not essential)
  • The ability to identify problems and resolve issues through effective influencing and negotiation
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to be able to communicate with stakeholders internally and externally
  • The ability to be able to handle uncertainty and work independently, using your own initiative.
