Business Support Officer - Legal
Kirklees Council Legal Services is one of the largest legal practices in the area and is responsible for providing and commissioning legal work for the Council and partner organisations. The work is varied and high profile.
You will be working in a small team of office based staff providing a wide range of administrative and business support to legal officers within the service. You will work flexibly to meet the changing needs and priorities of the service and its customers.
You will prepare documents that will be used in a legal environment and in court therefore your work will often be of a highly confidential and sensitive nature. The ability to work accurately and to deadlines is important. It is essential that you are familiar with a variety of computer packages, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and that you are able to demonstrate business and administration skills to NVQ 2 level or equivalent.
This post is usually based at High Street Buildings full time, however, due to Covid-19, the Legal Services BSO team are currently working from home for the majority of the week. Some limited office attendance is required on a rota basis to complete office-based activities, such as opening the post and scanning documents. This would involve being based in the office at High Street Buildings up to one day each week. For the rest of the week you would be expected to work from home and you would need to have broadband to enable you to do this.
The main duties of this post include:
- Data processing (input and retrieval) including service based IT systems
- Information and record management as directed
- Specialist word processing – including audio typing
- General administrative duties as required
- Responding to non-routine enquiries/complaints, signposting as required
- Arrange meetings and take minutes (as appropriate)
- Project work (under supervision)
