Domestic Abuse Consultant
£35,745 - £38,223
We want Kirklees to be a place which combines a strong and sustainable economy with a great quality of life; a place where people live in cohesive communities, feel safe and protected from harm; and children have the best start in life.
Kirklees Place Partnerships have been established to respond to strategic issues on a geography greater than a ward and are committed to tackling domestic abuse, with dedicated funding to empower our communities to respond to domestic abuse; and to equip staff in all our communities to mitigate the impact of domestic abuse on victims and children and challenge perpetrators about their behaviour.
We have established four Domestic Abuse Consultant roles on a two-year fixed term basis to upskill staff across the partnership and increase their confidence in supporting people affected by domestic abuse; lead on engaging under-represented victims in services; and build capacity and train community assets to respond to domestic abuse and ensure links are made to local support networks and provision.
You will have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on adults, children, communities and local services. Your positive and constructive approach will support local communities to develop collective responses to domestic abuse in a way that is right for them and contributes to our broader vision to end domestic abuse, for good. You will also offer advice and support to enable staff across our partnership to engage with families and individuals affected by domestic abuse and promote the use of effective interventions through regular briefing sessions. Your passion for equality will drive our work with partners to improve our engagement with victims that are currently under-represented in our referrals for support
In this role you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and work with a range of colleagues within Communities, Adults and Children’s Services, our partner agencies and across our communities. Tackling domestic abuse is a key priority for Kirklees and as such, you will be line managed by the Service Manager for Domestic Abuse & Safeguarding Partnerships and be working within a supportive, committed team who are passionate about achieving the best outcomes for those who have experienced domestic abuse.
At the current time, due to Covid-19, the post holder will be required to temporarily work from home but, even under normal circumstances, the post holder will be encouraged to work flexibly to ensure the needs of the service are met whilst maintaining a good work/life balance.
Our offer to you:
- Friendly and supportive team environment
- Flexible working arrangements
- Career development and training
- Generous annual leave entitlement
- Excellent pension scheme
