KNH is an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) set up in 2002 as a not-for-profit Kirklees Council-owned housing company. At KNH we manage approximately 23,000 council houses.  We have a long history of involving tenants and residents in the decisions that affect their homes and communities; and we have always been about more than bricks and mortar. 

We are about to embark on an ambitious programme of improvements to low, medium and high rise blocks including fire door replacements, fire stopping works and upgrades to fire detection systems. The works will be delivered to exacting standards and in accordance to Local Authority Building Control.  

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidates to join our existing team of fire safety specialists as 2 x Clerk of Works (Fire Safety).  The main purpose of the roles is to support the on-site delivery of packages of fire safety improvements through on-site supervision of works, contractors and suppliers, whilst ensuring minimal disruption to residents. 

The Job 

You will ensure quality and delivery, of fire safety related works to the housing stock managed by Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing, through staged inspections, quality control monitoring/reporting and coordination of works on site to satisfactory handover. Support to direct labour and external specialist contractors, ensuring compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all other relevant legislation.

The successful candidates will have:

A successful track record of delivering large improvement programmes to public sector housing and occupied homes;

Extensive knowledge of the Regulatory Reform Order (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and its implications relating to complex residential buildings;
 

Demonstrate knowledge of the built environment and construction techniques used on residential housing;

Extensive experience of surveying, preparing schedules of work, quality control inspections and report writing;

Extensive knowledge and experience regarding fire stopping methods and their application to real building projects;

Demonstrate knowledge of Health & Safety at an operational level; and

Demonstrate sound knowledge of the Building Regulations, Disabled Access, Fire, Asbestos, CDM and Health & Safety Legislation.
