We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and ambitious person with a 'can do' attitude to lead the Financial Assessment and Charging Team. The Team is made up of 11 Financial Assessment Caseworkers and 2 Financial Assessment Support Officers and is responsible for the timely delivery of financial assessments and calculation of care charges for people receiving services from Adult Services and Wellbeing (ASW). Also, for financial assessments for means tested allowances for the Children’s & Young People Directorate (CYP). 

In this role you will be jointly responsible with the second post holder for leading, managing and the performance of the Team.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading the Team to ensure the timely completion of financial assessments for care charges.
  • Providing support, direction, and line management.
  • Ensuring charges for care and support are accurate and correctly calculated ensuring quality assurance is in place.
  • Handling complex cases, problem solving, and resolving appeals and complaints.
  • Monitoring performance and providing management information.
  • Reviewing and improving systems and processes.

What knowledge, skills, and experience do you need?

  • Being able to lead and motivate colleagues.
  • Manage workloads, prioritise work, and know when to escalate issues.
  • Have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Have good communication skills with the ability to explain complex matters simply.
  • Good knowledge of the Care and Support (Charging and Assessment) and (Deferred Payment) Regulations 2014.
