Early Support Consultant - Mental Health in Families Team
The Mental Health in Families team are part of the Early Support service in Kirklees Council and focus on the impact of Parental Mental Health on children. The team are excited to announce that a unique opportunity has arisen to join the team for a pilot project funded by Supporting Families.
This is a time-limited role, ending in October 2024 in line with the length of the project. The successful candidate will be involved in designing preliminary materials for the pilot and shaping the project towards the specific outcomes and deliverables as well as gathering and reporting on data over the 18-month period.
The day-to-day work of the team involves case consultation with case holding professionals, using an analytical perspective to ascertain the lived experiences of children and families and discovering how resilience can be enhanced within families affected by parental mental health issues.
This role will be co-located with adult mental health community teams, where you will be the representative of Early Support. As such, the role will require a good knowledge of Kirklees’ early support offer, and an ability to promote how these services can benefit families.
In order to be successful in this role a strong working knowledge and experience in using the whole family approach is essential. In practice, the role requires enabling mental health professionals to identify parents on their caseloads who may benefit from early support, specifically making referrals into ESMAP.
