This job is about working with private, independent and voluntary childcare providers, local partnerships and networks in ways that work for them to raise outcomes for young children and to reduce inequalities.

You will help build the conditions to support those working across the early years sector to secure high quality provision, effective relationships and partnerships which give young children the best start in life.

You will need to demonstrate requirements on the Person Checklist of the Job Profile which include, for example:

Experience of working within the early years sector

A relevant degree level qualification in early years/health/social care or demonstrable working experience

Knowledge of up to date early years practice and policy

Working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage, government legislation and regulation

Ability to effectively support and challenge providers

Ability to produce high quality written materials

Ability to work in partnership with staff in other agencies and organisations

Effective communication skills

Ability to analyse data and intelligence

Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and Saturdays.

Ability to travel to various locations

We are a friendly and supportive team who are ambitious for young children and their families. As well as opportunities to work as part of a team and take on a lead, consultants offer support and challenge to providers in an area of Kirklees so that they can develop important relationships.   Our work has been very different during the Covid19 pandemic and we will support you to feel at home within the council and early years team as we continue to respond and adapt to this unusual situation and plan for recovery over coming months.
