An exciting opportunity has arisen for focused, driven and proactive individual to join the Information Governance Team. As an Information Governance Assistant, you will be required to provide advice and guidance to colleagues across the council, in relation to all areas of information governance. The role requires a motivated individual who can work across a variety of different subject areas, ensuring that all legal requirements and statutory deadlines are adhered to.

Successful candidates will be expected to work across a range of information governance areas, including FOI & EIR, Data Subjects Rights (including the redaction of records) and supporting work within the Central Archive.

The post-holder will predominantly support in the management of the central archive and assist in the retrieval, scanning and redacting of documents for data subject’s rights requests. This role requires regular access to sensitive and confidential information, therefore a DBS check may be required.

Other areas of responsibility include:

  • Providing specialist advice and guidance in relation to all aspects of information governance
  • Responding to queries and resolving issues and cases
  • Co-ordination of and responding to requests from the public (FOI, EIR, data subject’s rights etc.) within statutory timescales
  • Ensure Council Records are catalogued and stored appropriately at the Central Archive
  • Work closely with officers in a range of services to develop and implement changes to support IG initiatives, standards and best practice
  • Carry out minute taking responsibilities

The permanent role requires you to be based at our archive facility. It should be noted that this role can be physically demanding and requires you to work at height regularly. Duties will include moving boxes of records and using a cherry picker or moveable ladders to access higher shelving within the archive.

Given that this position is a physically demanding role, successful applicants may be required to undertake a health screening.
