BASED IN SOUTH KIRKLEES - HUDDERSFIELD AND SURROUNDING AREAS.

Temporary or Permanent contracts available.

This is a rolling advert - applications will be checked and shortlisted regularly.

Shifts will include weekends, evenings, and Public Holidays. You will be required to work across North or South Kirklees in order to meet the needs of the service.

Kirklees Council are recruiting Home Support Workers in the Short Term and Urgent Support Teams. The teams provide a range of services to adults living in their own homes in partnership with health colleagues. All of our services have a re-ablement ethos and aim to provide support which helps people to be as independent as possible.

It is essential that you have a high level of understanding of Adult Social Care. You must be able to demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional training and development and possess a basic awareness of both health and safety issues and food hygiene.

You will be expected to read the Care Plans and other documents such as risk assessments to ensure you can support people safely and record how you have supported them on the daily recording sheets.

You will be working with service users who may have restricted mobility and/or challenging behaviour. Following an offer of appointment, you will be required to undertake a standard medical screening and any other medical screening as determined by the Occupational Health Unit appropriate to occupational risk.

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required for this job.  A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.

Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time.  It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence and it is expected that you will either use a council vehicle or your own car.
