Newsome High School has a strong ethos that develops young people educationally, physically and socially in a disciplined and safe environment. Our highly committed staff and superb facilities are helping the school make an increasingly positive contribution to the lives of our students and the wider community. Newsome High School is the only mainstream high school in Kirklees with two specialist provisions – one for children with physical impairment, the other for hearing impairment. It provides a centre of excellence that demonstrates a high quality environment and approach with specialist staffing, resources and equipment.

We require an Activity Support Assistant to work within the Specialist Provision to assist and support the needs of physically impaired students at break and/or lunchtime with personal care (to include toilet assistance) and eating.

If you are genuinely interested in working with physically impaired young people, are compassionate, patient and caring and believe you can make a difference we would like to hear from you.

You will be joining a warm and friendly workforce who are committed, hard working and share the vision to become outstanding and achieve excellence in all that they do. We will provide full induction training and opportunities for further professional development.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this position (a conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process).

If you would like to discuss the role further contact us on the email below. We want to hear from you. We would normally encourage you to visit the school beforehand; however, due to the current global pandemic we are unable to offer this at the current time.
