Job 1: Permanent Occupational Health Technician (37 hours permanent)

Job 2: Fixed Term Occupational Health Technician (37 hours to cover maternity leave up to 11months)

This role is working within Kirklees Councils In house Occupational Health Unit based at a bespoke Occupational Health unit in Huddersfield.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to support the in-house Occupational Health team to deliver specific occupational health and wellbeing programmes. This role will be working with teams of staff who work in our Adults/ Care Home sector, Schools or the Councils wider internal teams to support better health and wellbeing and attendance at work.

Ideally the post holder will be someone who has an interest and experience in delivering occupational health surveillance in a similar or allied setting. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate an understanding of supporting mental health and other interventions in the workplace.

The main aspects of the role will be:

-Delivering a range of health screening (audiometry, spirometry, skin assessments, HAVS, Urinalysis, drug and alcohol testing, chester step, DSE etc.) in the occupational setting.

-Supporting the development and delivery of the Councils wellbeing strategy.

-Interpreting results and communicating these to clients and managers

-Delivering mental health training and general wellbeing courses /topics in schools and other partner organisations.

-Completing all administration tasks relevant to the position.

-Knowledge and understanding of occupational health care IT systems (ie eOPAS, Cohort or similar) and the GDPR requirements around access to medical reports and data

-Producing Management reports and information (internally and externally) to all clients within timelines

Ideally the candidate we are looking for will have a professional qualification in a related subject i.e. in Audiology/HAVs level 1 & 2/spirometry etc and a working experience within the health care sector. This role will suit someone who is passionate about providing health support.
