Internally restricted job. To apply for this job you must be an employee of the Council for the duration of the recruitment process – up to and including the start date. You must also be a substantive employee (or an employee with 12 months continuous service or more) of the Council or an Apprentice. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of shaping the future of School Governance.

This work is high priority for Children's Services, Learning & Early Support an opportunity to shape the future of school governance playing a vital part in school improvement and supporting the realisation of high aspiration for all children and young people in Kirklees.

You will have oversight of this strategic piece of work, ensuring that objectives are delivered in a focused and timely way. You will work across the education system within Kirklees and will explore opportunities for cross LA, regional and national working.

We are looking for someone who: 

  • has up to date knowledge and experience of School Governance including a solid awareness and understanding of statutory duties;
  • as a good understanding of the Education system;
  • is enthusiastic and passionate about improvement and making a difference;
  • is solution-focused and creative;
  • has strong communication and negotiation skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders;
  • is able to identify opportunities and work collaboratively to ensure effective governance across Kirklees; and
  • is proactive.

It is essential that we have robust and effective governance and leadership across the school system and you will work to ensure governors have clarity of their roles and responsibilities and are skilled and equipped to give strategic leadership, support and challenge.

It is envisaged interviews will take place on 15 and 16 March 2021.
