Based at Flint Street, Huddersfield, but working across the whole of Kirklees. 

Working as part of the Strategic Waste team responsible for managing the Council’s waste strategy and promoting sustainable waste management, you will help to develop and implement a programme of environmental awareness on waste prevention, re-use, recycling and organic waste composting. You will also help to develop and promote new initiatives related to these areas. 

With a view to educating people of all ages and abilities about waste and recycling you will develop suitable materials and educational activities for use in schools and with young people. You will also be involved in delivering these activities.  The job will involve engagement with community groups and other organisations and participation in events, some of which may be outside of normal office hours. 

You will hold a degree in a relevant environmental subject or be able to demonstrate the ability to work at that level.  You will have a high level of written and verbal communication skills, effective IT skills, and the ability to undertake research using both traditional and electronic means of accessing information. 

You will also have the ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
