Slaithwaite CE (C) JIN School is a successful primary school with high expectations of attainment and achievement for all pupils, judged by Ofsted as ‘good’ in all areas. We recognise that a pupil's happiness and well-being are the foundation for their success and is essential to nurture, educate and care for the 'whole person'.

The staff at Slaithwaite CE J&I School are committed to ensuring that all of our pupils acquire and develop the skills, knowledge and understanding that will allow them to thrive and ‘live life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10).  We know that we have a duty to equip our children with the communication and social skills that will support them to build positive relationships and flourish within our local and global community.  It is also fundamental that everyone has a right to be safe, healthy and feel a sense of positive wellbeing.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed individual to work as an Educational Teaching Assistant to support a number of children with special educational needs. Experience and expertise of working with children with delayed communication skills would be an advantage. The successful candidate will primarily be based in EYFS & Key Stage One, but will also be required to be flexible.

We require applicants with:

  • An ability to adapt to new challenges and situations
  • Creative, fun and innovative ideas for motivating learners
  • Enthusiasm for working as part of a team as well as an ability to work independently
  • Superb interpersonal skills and confidence in communicating with pupils, parents and professionals
  • Motivation to develop their own skills and talents in order to support pupils and colleagues
  • The ability to work with a small group of children carrying out intervention programmes
  • A hard working, resilient, enthusiastic and committed approach
  • Acceptance of the Christian ethos and life of our school
  • Experience of working with children with SEND

If you can offer the above then we would love you to come and join our team.

In return we will offer:

  • A happy environment where everyone is valued
  • A warm and welcoming Christian community
  • Children who are polite, happy and motivated to learn
  • The opportunity to work within a school judged as ‘good’ by Ofsted
  • A highly professional, dedicated, enthusiastic, supportive and hard-working team
  • Continuous professional development opportunities

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff are subject to an enhanced DBS check.
