We are seeking to appoint a part time Teacher of French. The ability to teach KS3 Spanish is essential. The successful candidate will be required to teach French up to KS4.

First and foremost, we require a teacher who can build excellent relationships with students. We are also seeking to appoint somebody with a good sense of humour and who enjoys working in a team. These are hugely important qualities in terms of collaborative working, but also in getting the very best out of our students. The candidate should also have experience of developing strategies to improve languages acquisition, including speaking and listening skills.

A strong commitment to the extra-curricular life of the school is essential.

Subject knowledge is important, as is an up-to-date knowledge of the latest approaches in the teaching of Languages. The successful candidate will thoroughly enjoy teaching their subject and understand the importance of Languages in contributing to our students’ wider development.

In return, we offer an outstanding learning environment, working with students who are typically above national average attainment at start point in Year 7. Our languages department is stable and has a strong team ethic. Results in French are typically strong. Also, we have recently been inspected by Ofsted under the New Framework in 2020. The school has retained its good judgement and that included strong praise for our Quality of Education. The report is available on the school website.

The staff body is very experienced and we have a highly committed team who always ‘go the extra mile’ for the school and community. All staff are expected to contribute to the development of new resources and to work collaboratively with others. We also offer excellent professional development opportunities and a wide range of facilities. This will prepare the successful candidate for further roles in school as well as developing subject knowledge and pedagogy.

Standards of behaviour are excellent. We achieve this because of a very strong team work ethic in pastoral management, but also we do not tolerate poor choices without proportionate consequences. As a new member of staff, you will find the school to be an extremely welcoming environment to teach in. Staff wellbeing is of paramount importance and this is reflected in the ethos of the Senior Leadership Team.

This is a superb opportunity to come and join a school where you will succeed and see our students make great progress over their time with us.

Deadline for receipt of completed applications is 12.00pm on Friday 29th January 2021

This job is subject to a DBS check at the appropriate level, please refer to the Job Description/Profile.  A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
