We’re Kirklees… are you?

In Kirklees we are focused on outcomes more than process and believe that to achieve the best outcomes for local citizens we need to be thinking “People, Place, Partners” and “working with rather than doing to.” We have a significant programme of investment in the physical infrastructure of our towns and villages that builds on our rich history. We are committed to an inclusive Kirklees and to ensuring that everyone benefits from improved outcomes. We recognise that this means we need to pay particular attention to how we work with some of our more vulnerable citizens and how we create the conditions for people to be more active citizens. We have invested in our leadership team and as a result of promotions have Head of Service opportunities available.

We are looking for an innovative and knowledgeable senior professional to join our leadership team with strong experience of working in communities who understands their role in supporting vulnerable people.

As the new Head of Communities, you will have strategic responsibility for the Council’s approach to Safer Communities, encompassing community cohesion, refugee and asylum seekers, reducing crime and integrating new areas of provision such as Domestic Abuse. The post will be key in transforming how we work with communities and integrating services alongside partners.

You will need a proven track record that demonstrates your ability to build relationships and influence innovation in service delivery, promoting community resilience and direct involvement, and where relevant, in delivering effective targeted intervention services.

This is an exciting time to join us, with the opportunity to work within a strong, experienced team and the opportunity to shape and develop the service as well as recruit new staff.
