Are you an experienced, talented and collaborative commercial manager with experience in waste services supporting public sector transformation and change?

Kirklees Council is leading the way by transforming services in the public sector, and we are looking for talented people to join us. This is your opportunity to help shape the future of Kirklees, to drive delivery of improvements and to be part of our journey towards delivering the best possible waste services for Kirklees residents.

Kirklees Council is seeking to fill two vacancies; one in the trade waste team and one in the waste disposal contract team. The roles are to deliver a commercial and business development approach for the services and to support the day to day management of work programmes. There is scope to transform services delivered to Kirklees residents - the scale of this challenge requires support from the brightest and best talent in the sector.

You will help to embed and promote a commercial culture within the service and will have experience doing so for other local authorities or businesses in the field of waste management. You will apply effective programme and project management methodologies to deliver initiatives, develop new commercial business opportunities and ensure the programme successfully integrates with the overall strategic framework and wider corporate strategy of the Council. You will establish, build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders to ensure commercial opportunities are maximised.

You will also have excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills, the ability to understand and motivate staff, to work with senior managers and Members, and the ability to carry out financial planning and understand, assimilate and communicate complex information.
